Sex before marriage?
There are arguments for both sides of this debate. Some would say you should have sex before you are married, otherwise you will not know if you and your spouse will be compatible or if he or she will be able to satisfy you. One argument against that philosophy is that marriage is supposed to be a lifetime commitment. Surely a lifetime is a decent enough amount of time to figure things out. Why shouldn’t people have sex before marriage?

From the vault
My Own Hero : Nov 5, 2005
There was a fire last night in the vicinity of our yard. I put it out. Yay me. Stupid disrespectful kids.
I heard a truck when I was playing on the computer last night. When I looked out the window after I heard the truck leave I saw a strange light. Hm. I had never noticed that before. I walked outside and found myself being pulled by a strange magnetic force to this eerie source of light. What is it, I wondered. Was it perhaps the remnants of a UFO? Was it a flashlight with a person attached to it, standing very still? Was it a lantern filled with a never-ending fuel supply? Was it a reflection of a street light? What could it be?
Fire. It was fire. You know that red and orange-ish stuff that hurts when you touch it? It kind of burns, you know? Well, that's what it was. Fire. There was a fire inside of this big yellow thick plastic five foot long, two foot high blockade bricky thing. Someone had somehow lit a fire inside of this big yellow bricky thing and it was quickly spreading throughout its hollow insides. Smoke whooshed out of one hole and flames shot out the other hole.
I traversed back up to the house, found a bucket, filled it with water from the house and set off down the hill to try my hand at fire-fighting. I won. I fought that fire. It died. I lived. The end. Okay, not really. I'm not done yet.
So yeah, I went down there with the bucket full of water. I walk-ran down the hill, splattering little drops of water on my awesome new boots along the way. I didn't care about ruining my awesome new boots(well, yeah, the thought had crossed my mind to change into some less awesome shoes, but I had no time). I was a woman on a mission. I had to fight that fire. I have had dreams about fires starting down there and watching the flames lick their way all the way up to the house to torch our beloved home. I wasn't about to let that occur. Nope. Not this time.
So when I safely reached the fire I dipped my hand into the bucket and splattered some water on the fire to make sure that it wasn't like a grease fire and if I put water on it then I would die. Well, guess what. It was a grease fire. I put that water on the fire. The fire whooshed up into my face. I suffered from third degree burns on 90% of my body. And then I died. So yes. I am dead. Dead dead dead. I am dead. I am a ghost. No. Not really. Ha ha. I had you there, didn't I?
So yeah. I poured that bucket of water on the fire. The fire went out after the water washed through the insides of the bricky thing. There was a hole burnt into the top of the bricky thing. The hole was like a foot in diameter. So yeah. The whole thing would have been engulfed in flames if it weren't for me putting out that fire. So yes. I am my own hero.
P.S. Did ya'll see my name in the paper? Someone stold my wallet last week (the day before the day I turned old). So that was a bummer, but I got most of my stuff back, so that was good. : )

PT and fuel pumps
I survived Monday’s cross training. Barely. PT was canceled on Tuesday because of Commander’s Call and I cried real tears of joy when my husband told me. I spent all day Tuesday trying to ignore the pain in my abs. I felt awesome after the initial workout, but I crashed a couple hours later.
Wednesday was 3-mile run day. I honestly didn’t think I could do it. I managed to run the first mile-and-a-half without stopping then ran-walked-ran the rest of the way. I made it in 38:15. Not too bad, right? Well, considering I’ve never tried to go that far before. Joe beat me by half a minute, so I plan to exact my revenge at today’s 3-mile run. That is, if I can even do it after yesterday’s core training. We’ll see.
Yesterday we did just about a million-and-a-half sit-ups and push-ups. I got lost every time we did an exercise that required more than two steps. They do these crazy push-ups where you start standing, jump down, push-up, do some crazy thing with your feet, then back up to the starting position. Everyone had already finished the whole process by the time I pushed myself back up. I also learned that I cannot do diamond push-ups. I barely did one. But, this was after two or three rounds of regular push-ups.
We’ll see what today’s run will bring.
We figured out what’s wrong with my car. It turns out the fuel pump is broken. I wondered why my car chugged so much the past few months. I feel stupid when it comes to things of that nature. One time when I was still living at home I let the oil get so low that my engine ticked. Dad ran out of the house and yelled at me, “Don’t you know why it’s doing that? When was the last time you put oil in it?” I never had. Now I check the oil often and make sure it’s full. Thanks to Dad, that’s one thing I know about cars. It sucks that we’re so far away. I miss Dad and the rest of my family.
Anyway. I called to have the car towed this morning. This should be a relatively cheap venture – well, compared to an engine problem, I guess. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I never really feel like going anywhere until I can’t.

Life's little smack
I canceled my oil change appointment this morning because my car wouldn’t start. Oh, the irony. Joe came home to try to jump it, but to no avail. Yesterday I told Joe how much it would suck if my car broke down. Again with the irony. Oh well. We’ll get it figured out. I should be using my lack of transportation to my advantage by working on the fifty million projects I have started. Instead I used it to vacuum and watch a rerun of Home Improvement while I whined to the cat about going to PT today.
Joe and I have been running about three or four days a week – sometimes five if we can’t come up with a good enough excuse to skip. We mixed in a little strength training and had ourselves a nice little workout routine. But, Joe failed his fitness test by ten points so now he has to work out with his squadron five days a week. I am now kicking myself for telling him before we were married that I would willingly work out with him every day. I’m kicking myself even more after he told me what this will entail.
Today is circuit training. Run for five minutes. Do push-ups. Run for five minutes. Do sit-ups. Run for five minutes. Do something else that’s torturous. Run for five minutes. Collapse from a heart attack. Or something.
Tomorrow is a mock PT test. Run 1.5 miles as fast as you can. Do as many sit-ups and push-ups as you can. Oh, joyfulness.
I’m actually kind of looking forward to it. Kind of. We’re doing a competition with our friends to see who can lose the most body fat. They’re doing P90X and so far they’re achieving amazing results. I think if I didn’t have to work out every day I probably wouldn’t, so it’s nice to have a challenge. It’s so much more fun to eat candy and stalk people on Facebook for an hour than it is to come inches from a breathless death for an hour.
Anyway. I’ll let you know if I survive or not.
